'Doormat Nor Diva Be' by Annie Ashdown
For sale in all good bookstores September 19, but available now for pre order from Amazon.
Over the last 8 years working as a coach and clinical hypnotherapist, I have come across so many clients and colleagues who strive to be perfect and cannot accept being anything less. They can't seem to grasp my suggestion that we need to strive for 'progress not perfection.'
Life conditions us, tempts us, influences us, and we feed on the offerings it serves us. However no one is perfect, the world isn't perfect. The English dictionary describes perfect as 'the state of being without a flaw or defect.'
So, why should you take notice of what I say? I have committed the last 10 years to helping others, (especially women) to be true to themselves and my techniques and tools have brought huge changes to many women's lives. After all when we were born we had no fears, no negatives, no low self esteem issues, no debts, no stress, no cynicism, and we were completely content with being 'perfectly imperfect', so why can't we be like that today and accept who we are? So many women invest so much time rehearsing to be someone they are not.
Doormat Nor Diva Be offers you;
- Clarity
- Support
- Encouragement
- Acceptance
- Understanding
- Tools for change
Many athletes, business women and men, captains of industry, celebrities, sales people, parents, performers, authors, corporate companies, use coaches for one reason only — they work.
Awareness is a powerful catalyst for positive change and we need to become skilled at seeing what we need. This book takes self care to a whole new level as I encourage you to engage in new daily habits by taking bold steps. As women we must expect no less than the highest standards for ourselves.
This book will be like having a personal coach and I won't be mean on the motivation front. However, I passionately want you to make changes NOW. I will inspire you to do so. Just stop for one moment and imagine how it would be to speak to someone each week for an hour or more who is non judgmental and actively, genuinely listens to you, supports your visions, dreams and goals, motivates you and is relentlessly devoted to you by encouraging you to take baby steps forward and helps you back up if you fall, constantly telling you how amazing you are. Would that be incredible or what? Would you be able to fly? You bet you would. This is what coaching does for you. So why not ride this one out by following my stream of suggestions, strategies, tips and proven techniques, along with absorbing the catalogue of case studies? My only agenda is you and moving you forward from where you are now to bring about tangible results.
It simply amazes me that we are in the 21st century and much has been written about boundaries, codependency, accepting ourselves, and valuing ourselves, yet so few women value themselves, stand up for themselves, or ask for what they want and need at home or at work. The ones that do, tend to do so in a controlling, aggressive and demanding way or they don't do it at all and allow others to walk all over them.
I want to encourage every woman to be authentic and believe they are more than enough being who they are, and accept and embrace all their flaws and assets and stop beating themselves up for not being perfect.
My intention, therefore, throughout this book is to urge you to be yourself and get honest. I illustrate simple things that many of us fabulous women do continually, perhaps without being aware of them and if you are aware of them, then shame on you!
However, the tools and suggestions require total commitment and daily practice. My wish for you is that you follow these top tips, resources, insights and tools I offer as they will bring about profound changes and your confidence and self esteem will soar.

A — All habits, behaviours, thoughts and cravings are generated in our subconscious, so these will reframe and re programme your subconscious.
